Home Delivered Meals
http://www.meals-on-wheels.org – Meals-on-Wheels home-delivers two meals a day, for seven days a week (including holidays), and provides modified diets, to seniors, age 60 and older, throughout San Diego County from San Ysidro to Oceanside, Alpine to the Coast, and most areas in between.
www.mamaskitchen.org - Mama's Kitchen, a volunteer-driven charitable organization, delivers food and hope to anyone in San Diego County affected by AIDS or cancer.

http://www.agingandindependence.signonsandiego.com - The County of San Diego's Aging & Independence Services (AIS) serves older adults, disabled persons, those at risk of abuse, individuals with HIV and AIDS, and others who would be at risk of institutionalization. AIS is the only single public or private organization in the county that combines so many services under one jurisdiction–and mostly at no charge to county residents who use our services.

Federal Poverty Income Guidelines determine eligibility for free legal services. Their expert legal workers will help you and your family resolve your legal problems free of charge. www.sdcba.org – Offers a For The Public resource section that can help you find a board certified attorney in San Diego County that is right for your legal issue or need in San Diego County.

- ALS Association, San Diego Chapter – www.alsasd.org – The local chapter for the ALS Association. The site provides local events, news and patient/family services.
Alzheimer’s/Dementia
- Alzheimer’s Association – http://www.alz.org/index.asp – National website for Alzheimer’s Association, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization. It provides information, education and support including Alzheimer’s Association CareSource™ an online suite of resources that will help coordinate assistance from family and friends, locate senior housing, receive customized care recommendations and enhance care giving skills.
- San Diego/Imperial County Chapter of Alzheimer’s Association – www.sanalz.org – Lists local programs and events and creates supportive services for families. This website is also easily accessed through the national site listed above as well.
- Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (ADRC) at UCSD - http://adrc.ucsd.edu – Provides community education presentations, patient and family resources and hosts educational events.
Cancer
- American Cancer Society – www.cancer.org – A nationwide community-based voluntary health organization. Provides a wealth of research information, education, patient services and advocacy initiatives. You can enter your zip code to link to the San Diego branch of services.
- National Cancer Institute – www.cancer.gov – Part of U.S. National Institutes of Health. This site provides broad and detailed information on all types of cancer including, testing, treatment and coping strategies.
- San Diego Cancer Navigator – www.cancernavigator.org – A website dedicated to providing other online resources for everything from financial/insurance support and housing recommendations to legal and Hospice/Grief support (we are listed, but on the second page). This is not an organization, only a portal to more information.

- American Heart Association – www.americanheart.org – Website for American Heart Association with pages for patients and caregivers as well as a section on Diseases & Conditions which presents a full list. Website is available in Spanish and has an area to type in your zip code to get local branch information and activities.
HIV/AIDS
- AIDS.gov – www.aids.gov – Information from the U.S. Government. It has video and audio podcasts, information on treatment and care, testing and ongoing research, as well as links to other resources both domestically and globally.
- Being Alive – www.beingalive.org – San Diego not-for-profit organization for those living with HIV or AIDS. It provides everything from peer advocacy services, support groups and educational seminars to moving assistance, hairstyling recommendations and social/recreational activities.
Kidney Disease
- National Kidney Disease Education Program (NKDEP) – www.nkdep.nih.gov – Part of the National Institutes of Health. Provides advice about talking to your family and doctor about the disease as well as resources for more information and the latest news and events.
- National Kidney Foundation – www.kidney.org/kidneydisease - Top-line information about the disease and kidneys in general with sections for parents and children, dialysis, nutrition and fitness. Allows you to find local offices and events by entering in your zip code.
Leukemia and Lymphoma
- The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) http://www.leukemia-lymphoma.org/hm_lls is the world's largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research, education and patient services. LLS's mission: Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. Since the first funding in 1954, LLS has awarded more than $600 million in research funding.
Liver Disease
- American Liver Foundation (ALF) – www.liverfoundation.org – The ALF is a voluntary health organization and provides educational resources, a list of events going on at all the chapters, Caregiver FAQ and more.
- American Liver Foundation, Pacific Coast – www.liverfoundation.org/chapters/sandiego – The Pacific Coast chapter is located in San Diego and assists with local support groups, events and resources. Can be routed to this site via the main webpage above.
Parkinson’s
- Parkinson’s Disease Foundation – www.pdf.org – The website of Parkinson's Disease Foundation, Inc., a New York not-for-profit corporation ("PDF"). It is a comprehensive list of websites, medical information, Q&A and an “Ask the Expert” feature regarding Parkinson’s.

The website of the San Diego chapter of the Parkinson’s Disease Association – a resource for patient services, and educational and support programs for family members and caregivers.
- National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) – www.ninds.nih.gov/disorders/dementias/dementia – NINDS was created by the U.S. Congress and is one of the more than two dozen research institutes and centers that comprise the National Institutes of Health (NIH). They have a link for Disorders A-Z in which they have five links for Dementia. It lists basic information, other related national organizations and publications on the subject.
- San Diego Eldercare Directory – http://eldercare.uniontrib.com/?q=alzdementia – SignOnSanDiego’s go-to source for the elderly population of San Diego. It has a specific Alzheimer’s/Dementia section with advice in several areas, basic information on the diseases and other local organizations in the area.
